Process
The book awards panel represents librarians in secondary schools,
Aberdeen City's Curriculum Resources and Information Service Aberdeen (CRIS), Aberdeen City Libraries
and CILIPS (The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals in Scotland) North East Branch.
The panel drew up and circulated a long list of 18 titles complete with blurbs. This list was then circulated to the participating schools and libraries. Young people were invited to vote for six titles but we ended up with a shortlist of eight when some of the books had the same number of votes.
Young people are asked to vote for their favourite and write a review of their chosen book or design a poster.
Award ceremony
Votes and competition entries must be returned to participating schools and public libraries by Friday 24th March.
The award will be presented in the Cowdray Hall, Aberdeen on the Thursday 4th May.
As well as the presentation to the winning author, prizes will be awarded for the best reviews and posters. The Grampian Children's Book Award is sponsored by Kidz Books, Baxters, Ottakers, Conoco Philips, Aberdeen City Libraries, Shell, Bruce Millers and Waterstones.
